Our Lansing students need you to participate in the policy process at both the State and local levels affecting our public schools! We seek to expose the truth behind the motivation to defund public schools and blame teachers and school administrators for their perceived failings beyond the sound bites and talking points. Join the effort to expose misinformation especially when it’s harmful to the growth of our community and the education of our children. Help us strengthen funding and support for our public education professionals working hard for our public schools today. A representative democracy requires all of us to make our voices heard!

GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR ELECTED LOCAL OFFICIALS AND LEGISLATORS
Elected officials are in their seats to represent you! Being a pro-public education legislator isn’t easy these days. If you don’t agree with the views of your local elected representation, let them know. They need to know what their constituents want, and that you are holding them accountable. Even if they support public education, send them a note letting them know that you approve, that they need to keep their constituents up to date on the status of policy attacks on our public schools, and thank them for their support. If you’re not sure who represents you, visit http://www.ksleglookup.org
TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS
We need our legislators and our neighbors who don’t have kids in the school system to see that we are concerned and that we think our legislators should spend less time trying to amend the constitution and more time trying to figure out how to best provide the children of Kansas with an education that will allow them to reach their potentials and contribute to a global economy. Share what you’ve learned from our conversations and encourage them to get involved by writing a letter or an email, or making a phone call to their legislators in support of public education. We all have to do our part to shut down misinformation about our public schools being perpetuated in our community when it comes up in their conversations with neighbors. Most importantly encourage them to Vote on November 7th, 2023.
GET INVOLVED WITH CHAMPIONS FOR LANSING EDUCATION
The Champions for Lansing Education leadership group is looking for more people to join us. Like similar groups supporting public education, we recognize that there is a well funded network of proponents of destructive policies hurting our public schools. We have a big job on our hands keeping up with the mistruths about public education being promoted at the local level, so having more perspectives and talents at our table will help us be more effective. Email us at championsforlansingeducation@gmail.com to join us or to share your concerns.
